We're having an egg-stravagantly egg-citing day here today.
Here's some egg rolling action.....

Today's "Swallows & Amazons" trip to Coniston was a huge success with all the class reporting what a lovely time they'd had. We cruised Coniston on the steam yacht Gondola and most of the children were allowed a chance to steer her; Mr Maddock is VERY jealous.
Then we followed a short section of the Cumbria Way down to the Coniston Sailing Club where we relaxed and did some sketching.
Here are a few of the pictures....

Before our trip to Coniston, we're watching the classic Swallows & Amazons Film.
MATHS IN ACTION!
We've been studying ratio and proportion for a while so we thought we'd try putting it in to practice.
Half the class have been mixing fruit squash in different quantities but at the same ratios to see if it tastes the same.
The other half have been using the ratios in a recipe to bake cookies. The classroom smells lovel!

We've just had our Curriculum Week Assembly for parents to see what we've been up to.
We had the premier screening of "Explorers - the highlights" - next stop Cannes?
If you missed it, you can watch it here!

It's starting to get messy!

It's curriculum week again!
In keeping with the term's theme of "People & Places", the Texels are working in small teams to research a British explorer of their choice.
They're being asked to manage their own time for the next few days, follow their own curiosities and allocate the work fairly between them.
By the end of the week we hope to have produced some wonderful biographies, some period style maps of the world and, fingers crossed, some puppet shows to illustrate what has been learned.
These latter we hope to video for all to see.
This photo shows some of the teams in the early planning stages.

Can you believe that February has already been and gone?
Today we've had a bit of fun.
It started in maths with Penny Bridge's famous "Human Venn Diagram"
We had lots of fun sorting ourselves out in the last of the February sunshine.
We sorted into sets of 'girls' and 'blue eyes' and were left only with dark eyed boys on the outside.
This afternoon, Year 4, along with Year 3, took part in a 'Moky-Fit' session.
It was a high energy and very high volume dance session and everybody had a great time.

Assessment week is well under way here in Class 4 and everybody is working fantastically hard.
Mr Maddock is very proud of them all.

Testing day finally arrived! Even the sun shone for us...which was a good thing given the nip in the air and the presence of much cold water.
We all had a great time testing our boats' cargo carrying capacities with many of them managing the full 1kg before capsizing or sinking.
Next time, perhaps we'll find a bigger pool!
