Year 4 (Shetlands)

Welcome to The Shetlands class!

Our class is made up of 18 year 4 children taught by Mrs. Morris. We are an energetic, hardworking and happy class who are always eager to learn. We also love showing our parents what we have been doing in school, and sharing the favourite parts of our learning journeys.

Below will be our information for each term; alongside pictures of us hard at work enjoying the varied activities we do in school!

There will also be our topic title, learning journeys and any other relevant documents for our class.

We hope you enjoy our webpage!

Currently our website monitors are: Molly and Nathan

Our Class photographers are: Felix, Oliver and Sophia

Summer Term

This term our topic title is "Survival" and we have been learning all about how animals, plants and people survive in different places across the world. Year 4 are especially focusing on the Rain-forest and the Arctic. This term we will hopefully be adding lots of pictures to the Facebook and website with the help of our Website Monitors.

Finally, here are some of the important documents for our class.

Spring Term

This term our topic title is "Location, Location, Location" and we have been learning all about Ulverston, it's history and the famous people who were born there. As part of this topic we have done lots of amazing things, here are some of our favourites;

  • We took a journey to Ulverston to look at the historical buildings and statues to some of the famous people. We even challenged ourselves to climb up Hoad Hill and up the 112 steps of the Sir John Barrow Monument.
  • Normans invade - We had a fantastic day venturing back in time with our Norman time travellers and learning all about what Ulverston would have been like in the 12th Century. Did you know that it was mentioned in the Domesday book in 1086?

Autumn Term

This term our topic title is "Journeys" and we have been learning about lots of different types of journeys. As part of this topic we have done lots of amazing things, here are some of our favourites;

  • We took a journey to peel island in a canoe as a class. When we got there, we saw lots of wildlife and found as many fantastic hiding places on the island as we could! We also saw the Coniston steam boat making it's journey across the lake.
  • Science week - we took a journey of discovery as scientists. We learnt all about the human body, nuclear power and even got to make our own rockets!
  • One of our favourite journeys so far has been our "Be the best you can be" journey. We are challenging ourselves to be the very best 'us' that we can be and even got to meet Jenna Downing! (here she is jumping over our teachers!)
