Creative Weeks Summer 2016
This term's creative week is linked to our topic 'Whatever the weather'. The children will be making rain sticks, rainbow castanets and kites. They will be using the percussion instruments to accompany weather related songs.
Our challenge this week was to create our very own scaled model of London (a bit like the one you can see at Legoland™ Windsor).
The children began by using the internet to research the exact dimensions of thirty important London landmarks. Then they used mathematics skills to work out a suitable scale to use to produce models of the buildings in proportion to the actual ones. In the spirit of 'Reduce, Re-use, Recycle', the models were constructed from waste cardboard which the children measured carefully and cut to scale using craft knives, then glued and painted themselves. Finally, we were able to transform the top playground into a miniature London, just in time for the visitors to enjoy as part of our Open Afternoon!
